Setting Sun and Falling Snow

Setting Sun and Falling Snow. Chugach Mountains. Eagle River, Alaska. Olympus E-1 with 50-200 SWD Lens. "They say" the E-1 just isn't very good. ISO 100, F5.6, 1/60, 200mm, monopod. Processed in Adobe Lightroom. Keen observers will note that this is like the previous picture, but was taken the following evening. These two pictures also illustrate a little bit how the E-1 renders tonalities and highlights as compared to CMOS-based cameras.

Fortunately, Alaska highway signage is educational. Can you imagine how tourists must feel seeing these big solid gray things and not having a clue what they are? Seward Highway, Near Beluga Point. Olympus E-3 with 12-60 SWD lens.

Road Trip Travel Kit

Submitted by K Norton on Thu, 09/10/2020 - 17:04

Here is my current "road trip travel kit". Everything goes into the two big bags. I also will bring a small bag for a quick minimalist kit to go for a hike, which I can toss in just what I want to carry for the moment.

On the left is the Sony A7 Mk2, Olympus OM Zuikos 21/3.5, 28.2, 50/1.4, 100/2, 200/4, 300/4.5, 1.4x Teleconverter, extension tubes, batteries, and a Sekonic L-508 meter. All placed in a KATA SB-902 bag.

On the right is the Olympus E-3, 12-60 SWD, 50-200 SWD, Panasonic DMC-GX85, Lumix 12-32, 25/1.7, 45-150, batteries, LED light, polarizer, remote release and batteries. All placed in a LowPro SlingShot 300AW bag. The SlingShot, when properly configured, allows for full access to the contents without taking it off or fully opening it up.

The small bag, in the middle, which I use for day-hikes with limited gear, is a Naneu Pro TS-10B.
