Bettye Crutcher and Deanie Parker

Deanie Parker originally a songwriter and artist in Memphis, but soon decided that she'd rather work behind-the-scenes, so she became Stax Records' marketing director. She stayed with Stax until they closed in 1976. She then went back to college and got her Masters' degree. When it was decided to build a museum to the influence Stax had on the world, she became the leader of the fundraising drive, and ultimately the first CEO of the Soulsville Foundation. She helped get the Stax Academy built as well. In the world of soul music, Deanie is a true legend. The lady in brown is Bettye Crutcher, one of Stax's most successful songwriters. Both women were VIP guests at the Mack Rice birthday celebration in Clarksdale, MS. Olympus E-M5, Panasonic 20/1.7
