Romeoville Swing Bridge

A look across the historic 135th Street Bridge now on the Centennial Trail, just West of where it spent 100 years carrying traffic over the Sanitary and Ship Canal. The structure at the far end up in the beams is the control doghouse where the bridge operator worked. According to the stats I found, the bridge swung open an average of 7 or so times per day to allow ship traffic to pass on the canal. Olympus E-M5, d. Zuiko 12-50mm
