Aqueducts are a weird concept - it's pretty much a bridge to carry one river over another. This is as far as the boat ride currently goes.

It's non-functional, and the gates are a bit rough. Primary function at this point is to keep this section of the Canal watered for the boat rides.

There was several feet less water than last time I was there, but the lock itself was still submerged. One of these times, I will hopefully be there when the lock is visible and reachable.

There are a number of these at various locations along the canal to illustrate life along the canal during the late 1800's and early 1900's when the I&M was functional.

It's his job to get the mule from the pen, make sure he's properly hitched up, and then walks with the mule along the towpath. When the trip is done, he puts the mule away and sees that both mules, Larry and Moe, are fed and cared for.

The Bollard is what The Volunteer ties off to, and the tree is the piece that connects the mule harness to the tow rope.

Pulled by a mule, you get the experience of traveling along the canal back in the late 1800's.
