Laser Dave

I Recently saw the Pink Floyd Laser Spectacular. Pink Floyd music and lasers are two of my favorite things in the world - together, it makes for an evening of Happy Paul. "Laser Dave" McConkey has been with the company since 1989, and is now the production/tour manager as well as chief laserist. Great guy, possibly a little crazy, but years on the road does that to a person. I happened to have the E-M5 with me, and after introducing myself, Dave gladly agreed to my request for an engineer portrait. The rack behind him contains the two main show computers that control the lasers as well as the necessary audio equipment. When I explained to him my fascination with lasers and laser shows that dates back to my first Laserium experience in 1975, Dave was happy to "talk shop" and even opened up one of the main projectors to show me the mechanics behind the mirrors after the show.
