A Girl and Her T-Rex
Our theatre just produced Julia's first published play, "Tammy: A Coming-of-Age Story About a Girl Who Is Part T-Rex" and I wanted a few portraits of her on the set. I have some more formal shots, but right after I got one, someone said something that made her laugh so I quickly fired off another burst.
This one turned out to be my favorite of all of them, because it shows the Julia that I know.
When she was a member, I had asked her if she would be interested in learning how to run sound during a play with me. She was a little hesitant, but agreed, and rapidly became my best apprentice. I was really sorry to see her leave for college.
During the talkback session, someone asked her about the use of music and sound during the play, and she told them that it was because of what she learned from me - there was a point when she suddenly realized just how important sound can be in conveying emotion and adding to the world of the play. I didn't prompt her to say that, and I certainly wasn't expecting it. I actually got a little teary.
