Echoes of the Past
The hospital building where I used to work is about to be demolished. We moved into our new facility in August of 2012.
It was, as most community hospitals that grew over the years were, built up in sections. The central core building was the original hospital, built in 1939.
Eventually, as other wings were built, the original structure was heavily modified. The third floor, where the data center and help desk resided, was originally the operating room. I went on a little archaeological expedition one final time before the wrecking ball hits in March of this year.
Down a little hallway from the old IT helpdesk area, in a room full of HVAC ducting and pipes, stands this old door. It leads to really nowhere, as the rest of the wall has been removed to make way for the ducting. On the back wall of that room is an old sink, all that's left of the actual dressing room.
