Illinois Central Hospital, Chicago, IL
The old Illinois Central Hospital on Stony Island Ave. in Chicago, built 1916 and demolished in 2011. This is the hospital where my brother and I were both born. It's gone through a number of different owners through the years, "Doctors Hospital" being the final one before it was shuttered for good.
The University of Chicago owns the land now, and is building a new academic building on the lot.
The hospital was originally named for the Illinois Central Railroad, which ran about a block west and built it as both a public hospital and a free medical facility for ICRR employees.
