P3071504-axe-and-slasher
On the left a typical single-bitted axe as always used for felling in New Zealand - once upon a time; not now. This axe is a Swedish axe, similar to but subtly different from eg True-Temper USA forgings and also Australian axes. Not as nice to use as those two others, but OK for me now. This is a 4 LB axe. The other instrument is a cut-down 'slasher'; my tool of choice in the bush; well balanced, very portable, and very versatile.
