What's Wrong With This Picture?
The Canadian Nation railroad (formerly the Grand Trunk Western) runs through our town. There had been a passenger depot right off of Calumet Avenue since 1912, but when GT discontinued passenger service in 1971, it fell into disuse and had been used as a storage shed.
CN (who bought GTW) wanted to demolish the old building, but enough people wanted to save it that they agreed to donate it to a local technical/trades school if the school would pay to have it moved. Private and corporate donations have paid for the relocation and are paying to have the students restore the building and convert it into much-needed classroom space.
Here, it's parked temporarily after crossing the railroad tracks earlier that morning.
