First Notes for Sound
One of the things I do from time to time is design sound for the theatre company.
The process begins with a complete read-through of the script, marking the obvious cues, especially the ones called out by the author. I then go through again, thinking about atmospheric effects, music to underscore a particular scene, whether some of the effects can be "practicals" or actual physical effects, or if they will be recorded.
After my initial notes, I sit with the director(s) and discuss the choices. After we all agree on the initial ides, I begin to assemble sounds, searching for some online, some from my own library, and some that need to be built from several other raw sounds. This is the part where the real creativity kicks in.
