TokyoCanon, Inc is reported to have plans to build a factory in Kawasaki costing approximately 55 billion yen in order to double its production capacity of CMOS image sensors in order to address increasing demands for its DSLR cameras, citing company sources.

Do we get the feeling that sometimes we do things because we just don't put enough thought into the reasons behind them? As it is with photography, there is a culture of rote-based copying or an 'accepted' notion of what is good without going deeper into questioning its validity.

Behind the HOYA-PENTAX Merger

And so, it is final. As the dust now begins to settle, there is clarity. The ‘war of words’ have laid confusion as to who was buying who. We can now confirm that as of March 31 2008, the merger agreement that both companies had gone into will result in the strengthening of Hoya Corporation and the complete demise of Pentax.
