Overwhelmed

One Woman's Journey with Breast Cancer

"You have cancer." No one wants to hear those three words. Especially not twice. To say Karen Norton was 'Overwhelmed' when she first heard she had breast cancer is an understatement. As a wife, a mom to two young girls, and a part-time music pastor supporting her family, she already had enough on her plate. But then came those three ominous words.

'Overwhelmed' is a journey of one woman's life of health issues that seemed would never end. Would her world ever be the same again? Would she survive? Could she ever be the person God wanted her to be in this life? Would she continue to struggle with health issues and the emotions related to the changes? Would she understand why God tested her with health issues?

Exposure Control in the Darkoom
Written by Ken Norton
Apr 15, 2009 at 09:05 AM
There are four distinct ways of controlling the exposure of a sheet of photographic paper:  Aperture, Time, Height and Development.

Aperture:  Controls the amount of light passing through the lens.
Time: Controls how long light will be passing through the lens.
Height:  Inverse-Square law.
Development:  Push/pull, etc.

Which is better? Does it matter?
Written by Ken Norton

Which is better - Digital or Film?  This is one of those arguments that has been exhaustively argued in every discussion group and forum on the Internet.  Any time you get two or more photographers together, there is the insane desire to discuss this, but usually in the context of justifying our own purchases.  Nobody wants to be "strange".  Peer pressure is not just a thing that school kids have to deal with, we adults constantly are subject to the peer pressure.  Peer pressure has forced the majority of photographers to adopt digital.  But is it truely better or are we lemmings too afraid to buck the system?

Please leave your comment with a brief explanation of which is "better" in your own words.

"Oh no, don't tell me that YOU take pictures of flowers too?"  Khen came pretty close to thumping me over the head when he found that out.  Yes, Khen, I like to take pretty pictures of flowers too.  But, wait!  These are different.  No, wait, really they are.  Right.

Chrome and Rust

It's hard to ignore an old relic. A mid-winter outing to photograph eagles turned out to be an opportunity to photograph something totally different. Adding to the mystique of the day, I used another old relic, a film camera loaded with the new formulation of Kodak Portra 400VC.
